This is our PHS documented orange pearl 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 convertible. It is a numbers matching engine/drive train with 60,000 original miles. Found in a barn in Washington Twp in 1999 where it slept for more than 10 years, it was rescued & had a body off restoration by students of the Career Prep Center in Sterling Hgts, MI from 1999 to 2001. It won its class at the 2001 Detroit Autorama along with other awards. One amazing fact is the entire restoration was documented in the October 2001 High Performance Pontiac Magazine. A four page article of all the details is noted in Volume 22, No. 5. A reprint was also available from the Feb 2009 issue. Only 11,649 Firebird convertibles were built in 1969 and less than 1,650 were assembled with the 400 ci engine. 985 of them had the Turbo 400 auto transmission.

We are definitely having fun with this cruzer that has power everything .. steering, disk brakes, antenna, top, and windows...all came with this beauty in 1969. Base price was $3,041.50 & with all the options, it came to $4,555.91 ($1,512.41 or 50% more was added to the base price...wow!)

The highlight of many classic cars is their history (if you know it) This bird shipped from the factory in Lordstown, Ohio, on 11-11-68 to Barnett Pontiac in Dearborn, MI. Including me, there have been only 5 owners since then, and the first one had it until 1977. It was seldom driven and by 1989 it ended up in a barn for 10 years.
